How some paintings r sold in a good price?
i know tht there r many great artists,small artists doing oil-paintings especially on canvas & earning lakhs of rupees.Sometimes a fresher or normal artist made much good painting then tht fellow.How the price of painting is determined?Is there any place for selling handmade paintings.
Alot of artists network during college and grad school, they forge strong friendships with curators and advisors. Locally, I've seen alot of artists get involved with art fairs, sometimes creating an art club helps. Art buyers are a very special market- they wont buy unless they equally see and feel the quality of your work.
The prices for a painting are set by the painter.
Example:
A Grad Student spent over $100k on his career so a painting from him automatically has a price tag of $2000. The painter spent $350 on supplies for 1 painting alone, so he ads $700 to the tag and say he spent 4 months working on it so he ads $4000. The total of the paintings worth is $6750- that is considering the painters education, supplies, and effort.
The overall quality of the art is very important. I have never met an artist with no formal training charging over $60 for their work, but it is possible. Best of luck to you.
