How long does it take a stick of butter to reach room temperature?
I have a recipe that requires all ingredients to be room temperature, the cream cheese, the butter, and the eggs. I set them out at 7am this morning, it's 10am now, the cream cheese and eggs feel about room temperature but the butter is still hard as a rock. How long does it take to reach room temperature? I'm pinched for time because this recipe is a cake that takes all day to make.
Zap cold butter in the microwave for 10 seconds; ONLY 10 seconds. Then check it. If it is not soft give it 5 more seconds. After that it will start to melt around the edges and in the middle.
Since your's is not 'cold', try zapping it for 5 seconds to start with.
My wife does that all the time -- it works very well.
